This quick video gives us some insight into how the brain works to recall stored information. Knowing this, you can use some researched backed techniques to help you recall important information that get stored in certain parts of your brain.
It highlights the importance of connecting a topic to something meaningful or your own personal emotional experience in order for the subject to make deeper meaning and remain in your long term memory.

It doesn't work for all but does for most. In my last class we had a discussion after reviewing the video and shared other ideas that students were using, turns out building onto previously learned material worked the best. In that technique, previously learned material is well embedded and only new material is reviewed and linked to the core learned earlier. Students - work on the linking only.
